Artists in Residence
Interior designer announces major new art show
ONE of the world’s leading artists, Northumberland-based Alexander Millar, will appear next week at a special show of art work at Newcastle interior design showroom Absolute Interiors.
Millar’s appearance alongside one of his rare original works at the Artists in Residence show – a collaboration between Absolute Interiors and the Art Café, Corbridge – represents a major coup for the event.
Millar, whose paintings sell globally for five and six-figure sums, is rarely available for show openings, and it is doubly unusual to have one of his original paintings on show.
His work will hang alongside other notable Northumberland names including the increasingly collectable work of the figurative painter Gavin Penn and the leading Chilean artist Enrique Azocar.
“Displaying these art works alongside our furniture here in the showroom allows people to see how art can work in the home,” said Absolute Interior Design’s Jason Short. “I’m particularly pleased to have Alexander Millar’s work here and am delighted to give the artists the space to show their work in an alternative setting. The Art Café is a fantastic partner and it is they who have secured this beautiful work for the show.”
